Workplace Relations Commission (WRC)


The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) was established on 1 October 2015 under the Workplace Relations Act 2015 and it has taken over the roles and functions of the following bodies:

  • National Employment Rights Authority (NERA);
  • Equality Tribunal (ET);
  • Labour Relations Commission (LRC); 
  • Righers Commissioners Service (RCS); and
  • The first-instance (Complaints & Referrals) functions of the Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT).

It is extremely important that employers understand their obligations under Irish employment law as failure to comply can prove to be costly.
