Checklist of records to be kept by Employers

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) monitor employment conditions in Ireland through its inspection services and can enforce compliance with Irish employment law; this function was taken over from the National Employment Rights Authority (NERA) with effect from 1 October 2015. 


We have listed below some of the standard records which a WRC inspector will require access to during the course of an inspection:

Terms of employment for each employee

Copies of payslips

Employees’ job classification

Dates of commencement and where relevant, termination of employment

Hours of work for each employee (including starting & finishing times, meal breaks, etc)

Register of employees under 18 years of age

Whether board and/or lodgings are provided and relevant details

Annual leave and Public Holiday entitlements received by each employee

 

 

Additional records may also be requested from the employer in order demonstrate compliance with employment rights legislation.
